Reindeer Roundup (2023)

Taking a different approach for 2023, Resonix were tasked this year with creating a dynamic digital projection with 3D CGI animation and sound design for the Reindeer Roundup- a collaborative effort by local artists with each reindeer represented by a different medium. Taking over the Montacute stables, Blitzen the reindeer appeared to freely walk, eat and interact with his surroundings complete with immersive and realistic sound design. How realistic? We recorded REAL reindeer to ensure the effect was as authentic as it could possibly be!

Mummers, Mystery and Mischief (2022)

Returning again to a theme of old English Yuletide tradition, the second year saw the introduction of a troupe of mummers- travelling performers and pranksters who had hidden a very important artefact from the house- the master's portrait! Drawing from real historical heritage, Resonix Creative helped to characterise this mischievous cast with original riddles and jokes as well as adapting old world poems and songs for the event. As before, an array of sound effects, music and video material helped envelope visitors into the mummers' world culminating in a final scene set in the stables where a digitally projected horse and groom seemed to really inhabit the space.

Mystery of the Yuletide Feast (2021)

With Christmas trails and events at historic buildings becoming more and more popular in recent years, Montacute House in South Somerset opted not for a conventional christmas, but something much more unique and specific to their site. A mystery tour through the estate would invite visitors to search for clues so they might identify the culprit responsible for hosting a raucous Yuletide party whilst the house's owners were away for the winter. Plenty of rude singing, burping and farting awaited guests as they made their way from room to room, uncovering vignettes of revelry and rambunctiousness including one particularly striking scene utilising digital projection technology creating the illusion of passing party-goers in the upstairs corridors.

Resonix Creative were first approached in 2021 to help deliver an immersive walkthrough experience through this magnificent Jacobean manor house. While the theme and style has changed each year, you can always find evocative sound design, dynamic projected video material, distinctive vocal performances and atmospheric lighting design - all hallmarks of Resonix Creative's attention to detail and storytelling; mindfully incorporated into a very real historical home. Our original musical scores is always a popular talking point with visitors, creating a seamless transition to an immersive world.
